5/28/25- Phillies 11- Goats 0

The Phillies rode dominant pitching by Colin Hosley, flawless infield defense and a balanced hitting attack to cruise to an easy 11-0 win over the short-handed Fainting Goats.

After a scoreless first, the Phils tallied 5 runs on 6 straight singles to open in the inning, including RBI hits by Jim Fogarty, John Wills and Paul Kaplan, with 2 more runs scoring on a Ron Totten FC and an error.

The Phils added another in the 3rd, when they again loaded the bases on consecutive singles off of Goats hurler Ken Lepage, and Andy Klepacki’s FC drove the run in.

In the 5th inning, the Phils put the game out of reach, scoring 3 runs on RBI singles by Stephen Malachite, Yami Baker and Klepacki.

In the 7th, after Miguel Ringler legged out an infield hit, and Micah Winston doubled down the RF line, Baker’s FC brought in Ringler, and then Winston scampered home on Hosley’s sac fly.

Hosley was magnificent, allowing only 2 hits and 1 walk, in 6 innings, while fanning 3. Winston pitched a 1-2-3 7th.

For the Phils, 8 batters had RBIs (2 by Baker and Klepacki), and 9 scored runs (2 by Winston and Ringler), and Malachite and Baker each banged out 3 hits.

Don Edwards was the lone bright spot on the Goats offense, reaching on a single and a walk.

5/29/25- Grays 7 - Wonders 7-

Dorian Grays relay two perfect throws from the outfield to nab two Wonder runners at home plate to secure a tie with The Wonders. Dorian Grays hitting star was their number three hitter Tim Sigda, who blasted a bases clearing 3 run line drive double to deep right field to open up a Grays 6-2 lead in the  top of the 4th inning. Tim, also, drove in the tying run in the top of the 7th with a fielders choice to add to his impressive 4 RBI game.

Wonders centerfield lead off speedster Tom Sebastyn went 3-4 with 2 runs scored, while reaching base all four times up. Wonders first baseman Kevin O’Grady not to be outdone, had a 3 for 3 perfect game at the plate. Wonders left fielder Andy Ayres had a key hit to drive in two runs during a five run bottom of 5th inning to help out a Wonders comeback.

A classic TNB50 well played and pitched game by both teams. Highlight of the game occurred after the completion, when five former and one present QVOTB Pirate managers and teammates had their picture taken together. See above.

Chris Bernacki- 4 IP

Dave Whitehead- 1 IP

Tim Sigda- 2 IP

Rick Stacy- 4 IP, 3 hits, 3 k's 3 BB

Patrick Olearcek- 3 IP, 1 hit, 5 k's 2 BB

Wonder's pitching made only one mistake, walking Grays # 12 hitter to start their 4th inning rally, otherwise both Rick and Patrick had superlative outings against arguably the best hitting team in our league only giving up 4 hits and striking out 8.

5/29/25- Isotopes 13 - Plug Uglies 6-

The Plug Uglies and the Isotopes met for the second time this season at Mitchell Field Thursday night. The Uglies sent Jeff Whitehead to the mound, and the Topes countered with skipper Dave Warner (who pitched all seven innings).

The Uglies got on the board in the top of the first. Bill Evans singled and was knocked in by a Jeff Whitehead double, and Rob "Ecc" Eccleston knocked in Whitehead for another run. In the bottom frame the Topes struck back with a singles from Gray Webber, Diego Ortiz and Dave Warner. Michael Arbour hit into a fielders choice that had Webber thrown out at the plate but left the bases juiced. Then Scott Dunaisky hit a bomb to right centerfield that cleared the bases and left him standing on second. Jess Higgin-Botham singled to score Dunaisky, and after an action packed first inning it was Isotopes 4, Plug Uglies 2.

In the top of the 3rd the Uglies had back-to-back-to-back singles from Nolan Anaya, Evans, and Whitehead. Eccleston whacked another single to drive in two, followed by an RBI single from Eric "Noodles" Bennett and an RBI double from Greg "G-Bomb" Elbaum. In the bottom of the 4th Warner reached on a E-3 and came around to score on a double by Arbour. After 4 innings it was Plugs 6, Topes 5.

In the bottom of the 6th the Isotopes exploded for an 9 run inning that put the game away, batting around their lineup. Webber, Ortiz, and Warner struck again, all hitting consecutive outfield singles to immediately load the bases. Arbour hit into a fielder's choice to score Webber, and then the next nine Topes batters reached base to keep the merry-go-round spinning, including two base runners reaching on errors, two walks, a 2 RBI single by Dunaisky, and an RBI single by Higgin-Botham, When the dust settled after the epic rally it was Isotopes 13, Uglies 6.

The Uglies tried to rally in the top of the 7th, but to no avail. Final score: Isotopes 13, Plug Uglies 6.
