7/8/26- Isotopes 11 - Grays 6
7/9/26- Fainting Goats 3 - Phillies 10
The Phillies improved to 8-1-1 with a convincing 10-3 come-from-behind victory over the Fainting Goats at Mitchell Field.
The Goats quickly got on the board in the top of the 1st off of Phillies hurler Ken Sloat when Mike Martindell singled, Tom Conway doubled, and they both scored on a SF by Shawn O’Grady and a groundout by Paul Iellamo. However, the Phillies immediately answered with 4 runs in their half of the inning off of Tom Salvini. Paul Griswold led off with a single and came around on Colin Hosley’s double. Andy Klepacki then singled, and a throwing error scored Hosley. A walk to Jim Fogarty and a single by Sloat loaded the bases, and 2 more runs scored on a walk to John Wills and a groundout by Paul Kaplan.
The Goats responded by plating a run in the 2nd when Jerold Duquette, Don Edwards and Salvini singled, followed by Joe Ratcliffe’s RBI groundout. Further trouble was avoided when 2B Wills alertly covered 1B on a bleeder to Hosley for the 3rd out. However, the Phillies got that run right back when Micah Winston walked and scored on Yami Baker’s double.
Sloat settled down to pitch 2 scoreless innings, while his teammates padded the lead. Salvini lost the strike zone in the 3rd, allowing bases-loaded walks to Wills and Kaplan. Conway relieved Salvini, and allowed an RBI groundout to Ron Totten before escaping further danger when Duquette threw out Ringler stealing. The Phillies added another in the 4th when Winston again walked and again scored on a hit by Baker.
The Phillies pushed one more across in the 6th against new pitcher Iellamo. With one out, Ringler led off with a single, Winston doubled, and Griswold walked. An infield error allowed Ringler to score, but then SS O’Grady snared a screaming liner off the bat of Hosley and easily doubled off a helpless Griswold from 2B.
Hosley relieved Sloat in the 5th, allowing 4 hits and fanning 2 without a walk to close it out.
