5/6/26- Isotopes - Fainting Goats
This evening's game has been cancelled due to rain and will be rescheduled during week 7 makeups.
5/7/26- Phillies 11 - Wonders 1
At Anniversary Field, both teams hoped to build on last week’s successes, but the Phillies put the Wonders hopes to bed with great pitching, spectacular defense and timely hitting en route to an 11-1 victory in 6 innings. The Wonders started grizzled rookie Bob Mastorakis to face off against the wily Ken Sloat. It was a scoreless first, featuring a nifty 4-6-3 double play by the Wonders Dan Alvord & Tod Garfield, and 2 strikeouts by Sloat.
The Phillies put up a 2-spot in the 2nd when Andy Klepacki walked, Sloat singled, they both stole, and then John Fogarty lofted a 2-run single into LF. In the top of the 3rd, Andy Ayres came in to pitch, and the Phillies greeted him rudely with a 3-spot. They loaded the bases with 1 out on a single by Micah Winston, a walk to Paul Griswold and a HBP of Colin Hosley. Klepacki’s sac fly scored Winston and then Sloat smacked a 2-run single to CF.
Sloat made easy work of the Wonders in the 3rd, finishing with a line of 3 IP, 3 H and 3 Ks, punctuated by Winston’s nice sliding catch of a can of corn in CF off the bat of Garfield to end the 3rd. The Phil's tacked on another in the 4th when Miguel Ringler reached on a FC and scored on Stephen Malachite’s single. Colin Hosley entered the game in the bottom of the 4th for the Phillies and induced 3 quick infield popouts.
In the top of the 5th, facing new pitcher, rookie Luis Beveraggi, the Phils’ offensive onslaught continued. Hosley and Klepacki led off with singles, with the former coming around on another RBI hit by Fogarty, and the latter scoring on a sac fly by Ron Totten on a nice tumbling catch in short LF by rookie 3B Bob Thorp, who wisely flipped the ball to Garfield from the ground, but his throw home was too late. The Phil's defense shone in the bottom of the 6th, with a sweet 6-4-3 DP turned by SS Sloat and 2B John Wills, followed by a scintillating diving stop by 1B Malachite who tossed to Hosley who won the foot race to the bag for the 3rd out.
In the top of the 6th, the Phillies added 3 more. Wills walked, Winston singled, Griswold singled in Wills and then Hosley lined a 2-run single to CF. The Wonders finally got on the board in the bottom of the 6th when rookie Brett Constantine led off with a walk and stole 2B. Garfield reached on an error, and then stole 2B, with Constantine coming home on the unwise throw down to 2B. However, 2B Wills shut the door with a fine sliding stop of a ground ball up the middle, throwing to 1B from his butt for the final out.
With daylight fading and a 10-run differential, the game was called after 6 innings.
5/7/26- Plug Uglies 3 - Dorian Grays 4
WP: Tim Sigda
LP: Jeff Whitehead
For the Plug Uglies it was opening night of the 2026 season. For the Grays it was game number two. The Grays sent fireballer Tim Sigda against Greg “G-Bomb” Elbaum for the Uglies in a well played down to the wire game at Mitchell Field.
The Plugs got on the board in the top of the first when, with two runners on, Rob “Ecc” Eccleston hit a shot to the outfield that scored 2 runs. The Grays responded in the bottom of the second when Dave Whitehead singled to knock in Tim Tremblay.
In the bottom of the third G-Bomb got into some trouble, but with two men on he struck out Steve Cole to get out of the jam. But in the fourth the Grays got to him again: lead off batter Steve Powers walked and eventually came round to score to tie the game at 2 a piece.
Sidga was lights out from the 2nd through the 5th, allowing only one base runner and striking out 3.
In the top of the sixth the Uglies were able to quickly load the bases with singles from Morriss “Mo” Partee and Bill Evans, followed by Jeff Cabana reaching on an E-5. Skipper Chris “Chaka” Scanlon snuck a hit through the left side that scored Evans and the Plugs took the lead 3-2. But despite getting 5 runners on base in the inning the Uglies got only one run, which came to haunt them soon enough.
In the bottom of the sixth, Jeff Whitehead came in to relieve Elbaum. The Grays immediately took advantage of the Uglies outfielders, who were playing deep for heart of the order. In succession Steve Cole and Steve Powers dropped singles into no man’s land in right and center field, respectively. With runners on 1st and 2nd, the table was set for Tim Tremblay, who singled to drive in both runners to put the Grays ahead 4-3.
Sigda stayed on for the top of the sixth and retired the Plugs 1-2-3 to earn the Gray’s first win of 2026.
