After a one-inning washout last week, the Phils and Wonders resumed their 1st round playoff series Thursday night at Whalley Park. Mike Krezmien pitched for the Wonders, Colin Hosley for the Phillies.

The Wonders jumped out early, scoring a single run in the first, but the Phillies answered in the second, plating 3 runs to take a 3-1 lead. And that was as close as it got...

A 9-run offensive outburst in the third extended the Phils' lead to 12-1 and they never looked back.

Phils' starting pitcher, Colin Hosley was in complete command, limiting the Wonders to 10 hits over 9 innings, earning the complete game, opening round playoff victory.

With the win, the Phillies advance to the semifinals next week where they will face the #2 seed, Plug Uglies.

The Isotopes and GOATs* met for their first-round playoff matchup at Whalley Park on Thursday. The Topes sent their ace, Gary Webber to the mound; the GOATs* countered with Tom "TC" Conway.

The Topes got on the board early, scoring a run in the top of the first on back-to-back singles by Gary Webber and Steve Youngberg, to take the early lead.

But the GOATs* answered in their half of the first when Tom Conway singled. With two outs and Conway on first, Todd Neumann belted a blast to right, clearing the fence and giving the Goats a 2-1 lead. The GOATs* scored another in the 2nd and 2 more in the 4th, making it 5-1.

A close game through 5, the wheels fell off for the Topes in the 6th when the GOATs* sent 17 men to the plate, scoring 11 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks, and an error, to take a 16-1 lead.

Conway was magnificent through 7 innings, allowing the lone run on 5 hits while walking 1. Todd Neumann came on for the 8th and 9th scattering 2 hits and striking out 5.

With the win, the GOATs* advance to the semifinals to face the #1 seed, Dorian Grays next week at Whalley Park.

*In keeping with custom, the Fainting Goats are referred to as the GOATs after wins.
