Week 3: Isotopes Outlast Wonders, Phillies Slaughter Goats, Plugs & Grays Postponed

Wednesday night featured a battle between the league's only undefeated teams; the winner to take sole possession of first place. Wonders starter Rick Stacy turned in a strong performance, striking out 6 and allowing one run through six solid innings, but reigning Isotopes MVP, Gary Webber gave up just 2 hits over 7 with 9 K’s for the complete game shutout and the Isotopes win.


The Isotopes offense was led by Mike Arbour who went 2-3 with an RBI for the night. Steve Ostrowski and Lundy Bancroft each collected RBIs for the 'Topes.


Kevin McElhinney made a great catch in right surrounded by Canadian geese to preserve the 1-0 lead at the time.


A well-played game with just one error, both teams and their fans are looking forward to the next meeting of these championship contenders.

LP: Eddie Esposito


The Phillies touched up Fainting Goats starter, Eddie Esposito for 7 runs in the second inning, en route to a 12-0 victory, their first of the season. Meanwhile, Phils starter, Colin Hosley held the Goats to 4 hits with 8 strikeouts, going the distance, earning the complete game win. Esposito settled down nicely after the 2nd inning barrage, allowing one run through the next three and giving up just three hits.


Andy Klepacki led the Phillies onslaught, going 3-4 with 2 stolen bases. Jon Ross, John Dusenberry, Gordie Lustila, & Craig Alaben checked in with multiple hits each.

Plug Uglies

Grays

Postponed


The Plug Uglies and Dorian Grays were rained out Thursday night at Mitchell Field. The game will be rescheduled for later in the season.
