Wonders 1

WP: Greg Elbaum

LP: Nabil Hannoush

The Plug Uglies faced off against the Wonders on a cloudy night at Herlihy Field. Rick Stacy started for the Wonders (who stymied the Uglies back in May), and Greg Elbaum toed the rubber for the Plugs.

The Uglies struck quickly, plating 1 run in the top of the first on a 1-out single by Greg Elbaum and a Wonders error.

Stacy came out to pitch the 2nd but had to exit due to a health concern. The game carried on but was understandably subdued afterwards.

Nabil Hannoush was called upon to replace Stacy and held the Uglies scoreless in the second, allowing just one hit. The wheels fell off in the third, however, as the Uglies scored 17 unanswered runs over the next four innings.

For the second week in a row Jeff Whitehead and Morriss "Mo" Partee led the Plugly attack.

Elbaum got the win, pitching a 6 inning complete game, striking out 2 and giving up just 1 run in the 9th. "E-Bomb" was also hot at the plate, helping his cause by going 3-4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Andy Ayres tripled and singled in three at bats for the Wonders while Kevin O'Grady went 2-3 knocking in the Wonders' lone run.

Isotopes 6

Phillies 4

WP: Gary Webber

LP: Colin Hosley

The Phillies and Isotopes squared off at Herlihy Park this Thursday in a game that featured pitching, defense, and timely hitting. Isotopes manager, Doug Stowers called it, "Another good game in a competitive league."

Tied at four after five, the Isotopes tacked on two in the 6th with back-to-back doubles from Gary Webber and Scott Dunaisky. A deep single by David Leslie drove in the second run of the inning. The 'Topes led 6-4 and held on for their 6th victory.

Shawn Wrisley and Luke Cavanac filled in at catcher for the 'Topes after years of not playing the position.

Dorian Grays 6

Fainting Goats 3

WP: Chris Bernacki

LP: Eddie Esposito

The Fainting Goats and Dorian Grays squared off for the second time this season on Thursday evening at School Street Park.

The Goats came out swinging, scoring two runs in the top of the first on a two-out single by Jerold Duquette and back-to back doubles by Stu Clark and Josh Weiss.

After an easy first inning, the Grays got to Goats starter Eddie Esposito in the second with consecutive singles from Steve Powers and Ken Hartwright and a booming double to left from Brian Krylowicz. Rick Fleurent and Steve "Money" Monette kept the inning going and the Grays led 4-2 after two.

Chris "Nacho" Bernacki settled down after the first, scattering four hits over the next four innings. The Grays added two more runs in the 4th and survived one final Goats rally in the 7th to hold on for the 6-3 win, their third straight victory.

Rick Fleurent pitched well for the Grays in relief, giving up 3 hits in two innings and allowing a lone run in the 7th.
